Non-surgical Facial Treatments

Botulinum toxin | BOTOX

Botox is a neurotoxin which targets the nervous system. As a result it disrupts communications from the neurons to the muscle. This prevents fine lines and wrinkles. Botox injections are often used to prevent and smooth wrinkles between the brows, crows-feet around the eyes and the horizontal forehead creases.

JUVÉDERM® Dermal fillers

As we age, our skin loses its volume, hydration, and elasticity. We need these in order to promote a youthful, healthy-looking appearance. Dermal Fillers are used to give volume and create contours on the face where volume has disappeared with age. The result is a younger, refreshed, and revitalized appearance. Dermal Fillers are temporary and non-surgical.

Thread lifting is a new, innovative technique or face rejuvenation, which offers the benefit of a non-surgical intervention and therefore, it only requires a short period of recuperation. The material consists of biodegradable threads that have long been used in surgery. During this procedure, threads are inserted into the deeper connective tissues. They attached themselves in the subcutaneous tissue and if positioned properly they create a tension into the desired direction.

This creates a mild stretch of the subcutaneous tissue and the skin, which is firmed up after a few days by the natural increase in connective tissue (fibrosing). There are no visible scars and healing is generally very quick. Additional benefits of the procedure: it takes little time (only approx. 15 to 40 minutes).

Most frequent questions and answers

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin which targets the nervous system. As a result communications from the neurons to the muscle is disrupted. When injected in small doses to a targeted area, this neurotoxin injection can paralyse specific muscles. This causes muscle cells to contract or shorten, making the contraction of the muscle during frowning impossible. This prevents fine lines and wrinkles.

The effects of these injections will only last three to six months. You will need to have a follow-up appointment for a re-evaluation, touch-up or additional treatments. Botulinum toxin injections can actually have a preventative, anti-ageing effect if maintained.

The term Brotox came from the recent increase in men going in for Botox facial injections. Botox use in men is up 258% according to a new study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Botox is not only used to stop dynamic wrinkles and lines from  expression it’s also used to treat migraine headaches, teeth grinding (bruxism) and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Dermal fillers usually consist of a substance that occurs naturally in the body that transports nutrients and regulates the water balance in the skin. Adding a substance that closely resembles this to areas where the skin has deep lines, and wrinkles can revitalise and add volume to the area, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles! Because they are injectables, fillers are a quick and non-surgical option suitable for many as they provide a subtle enhancement of the natural face.

Regardless of the type, all fillers are temporary and will require repeat injections to maintain. How often you will need additional injections will depend on the kind of filler you have.

A thread lift is designed to subtly lift the facial features to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while encouraging collagen production for more volume in the treated areas. Local anesthesia is used for the treatment and the threads are absorbed after a certain time depending on the material. Additional threads can be placed at any time. This method allows lifting the skin and tightening the hypodermis significantly with minimal effort for some time and nearly risk-free. Compared to conventional face-lifting, thread-lifting offers the patients benefits. It means less stress because this intervention is significantly smaller.

It will typically last from 1 to 3 years. Such as botox and dermal fillers, the threads used in the procedure will eventually be absorbed by the tissue underneath your skin.

During your first consultation, your areas of concern and the outcomes you desire will be discussed . It will be determined how many filler injections would be needed and whether additional injectables like botulinum toxin injections would be needed to achieve and maintain rejuvenated youthful skin.

When fillers are deemed the best option for you, numbing cream will be applied to the areas where the filler is needed to ensure the experience is painless. Dermal fillers are then injected into the skin in areas where deep lines and wrinkles are plentiful like the forehead, the eyes, jaw and lips.

When your choice is thread lifting, anesthesia needs to be applied 20 – 30 minutes prior to the treatment. It has a low risk of pain and inflammation. The result is seen immediately after the intervention.
